Passionate Teaching

This past week I had a conversation with my supervisor at work and we discussed what it would look like for me to continue working at my school next year. At first I was apprehensive about sharing an idea I had earlier on in the school year of me doing something theater related because I knew, I would be finishing my two year program at NCDA, right before the new school year begins. However, when I did share that idea with her, she got excited and began throwing out some potential ideas. One idea she shared is to do a reader’s theater classroom experience as maybe something to help increase literacy for students. That idea is something I like and can be incorporated into whatever types of lessons the students are working on in the school year.

At the end of the meeting she informally tasked me to create a plan behind what this type of program could look like for the student population. I am planning to definitely create some type of outline to have so that I can build a space of value for me and to be able to teach from a passionate place and not just teach what must be taught.
